16th Street from St. Joseph Avenue to Kansas Avenue will temporary close for viaduct and street work beginning on Monday, April 4.
United Contractors, Inc. from Johnston, Iowa was awarded the contract for the work in December, which includes the removal of the viaduct, construction of 16th Street, sidewalk, parking areas, earthwork and more.
As part of the agreement, the entire project is required to be substantially completed by Sept. 1, 2022, with final completion by Oct. 1, 2022.
Drivers are asked to use caution in the area and plan to use alternate routes.
