The City of Kearney Public Works Department and Wilke Contracting Corp. would like to inform the public that 2nd Avenue overpass repairs will begin on Monday, June 20, 2022. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions. Over-sized and wide loads are encouraged to use an alternate route. The improvements to the bridge structure are extensive and expected to be completed by the end of September.
If possible, citizens are highly encouraged to use an alternate route during their daily commute. Drivers should use extreme caution, as during the course of construction lane closures will be shifted from inside lanes to outside lanes. During construction, traffic delays are likely. Please slow down, stay off mobile devices, and stay alert as to provide the safest environment possible for commuters and the construction crew working onsite.
