Here is a sneak peak of the new lighting on our water towers! Kearney's water towers are like no others in the country due to the design approach of placing two lights (one pointing upwards and one pointing downwards) allowing one-of-a-kind light shows.
The City of Kearney worked closely with Mike Lambert, Senior Lighting Designer for Teknephos, who takes his talents across the country doing work for Yankee Stadium and other notable venues.
"Two of Kearney's existing water towers presented a very unique opportunity to place new LED equipment in the locations where the original fixtures mounted to the standpipe column sides delivered both upward and downward lighting effects. Some of the existing fixture's mounting hardware was repurposed to hold (2) new LED lighting fixtures at each location, with one still facing upwards and the other downwards.," Lambert said, "Kearney's water tower tank sides will be the first to use a recently developed beam 5 degree vertical by 50 degree horizontal beam distribution to highlight the new logos and minimize spill light."
Think this is cool? We aren't done yet! White lights will be added to light the newly painted City of Kearney logo on the bowl.
