Students, faculty and staff from across the University of Nebraska System are invited to attend the inaugural NU System Sustainability Summit, scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Nebraska Innovation Campus Conference Center in Lincoln.
For the first time, the summit will bring together University of Nebraska sustainability leaders and stakeholders in the hopes of prompting growth and understanding in sustainable initiatives and visions. The summit will elevate effective, efficient, economic, equitable and responsible use of resources to meet our current needs – while considering the long-term implications of our choices on future generations.
“At the University of Nebraska, we’ve articulated a vision for sustainability built on the common-sense beliefs and values of the people of our state,” said NU System President Ted Carter. “We are proud to work together with students, faculty and staff and all Nebraskans to be the best possible stewards of the resources entrusted to us. I’m especially grateful for the leadership, vision and engagement our students have brought to this work.”
The 2022 summit will include opportunities for networking, remarks from Carter, Chief Sustainability Officer Chris Kabourek and UNL Chancellor Ronnie Green, panel discussions featuring community leaders and experts from across the NU System, and a keynote address from Monolith founder and CEO Rob Hanson. Headquartered in Lincoln, Monolith develops next-generation technology for producing low-cost, low-emission hydrogen and carbon black – an important raw material used in manufacturing rubber and plastic.
