Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) today announced that South 70th Street from Saltillo to Rokeby roads is now open. The portion of South 70th Street had been closed since early August 2022.

This project paved South 70th Street at Carger Lane to help serve growth in the community by improving the safety and capacity of the transportation system.

Remaining work includes finishing grass seeding, installing cable to power to permanent streetlights and other minor work that can be completed from the shoulder areas off of the street. Completed work includes:

  • New roundabout at South 70th Street and Carger Lane
  • New streetlights at the roundabout
  • New concrete and asphalt roadway surfacing
  • New 16” water main to provide service in the growing area
  • Grading for future improvements
  • Public and private utility infrastructure improvements
  • Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps and sidewalks
  • Temporary streetlighting installed until permanent streetlights are powered
For more information on this project, contact Randy Saathoff, LTU, at 402-440-6067 or rsaathoff@lincoln.ne.gov. Current information on street closures is available at lincoln.ne.gov/closures or through the Waze mobile app.
