Census Bureau: 2.7% of people in Kearney County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 6,639 citizens living in Kearney County in 2021, 97.3% said they were only one race, while 2.7% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Kearney County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 95.5% or 6,340 individuals. Following them, Asian accounted for 0.8% and totaled 50 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Kearney County is 2.4% lower than the state average, which stands at 5.1%.
