Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE), a co-chair of the Congressional Biofuels Caucus, has voiced his thoughts on the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) recent announcement regarding the year-round sale of E-15 in eight states starting in 2025.

In his statement, Smith acknowledges the positive impact of the EPA's decision on midwestern consumers, stating, "Although year-round sale of E-15 is welcome news for midwestern consumers looking for more options and price relief at the pump." However, he emphasizes the need for a more comprehensive approach, advocating for a permanent solution that allows the year-round sale of E-15 nationwide.

Smith highlights the importance of long-term certainty for various stakeholders, including farmers, ethanol and petroleum producers, retailers, and consumers. He points out that the U.S. Supreme Court has emphasized the necessity of legislative action to ensure uninterrupted, nationwide availability of E-15. To address this issue, Smith pledges to continue working towards the passage of the bipartisan Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act, urging President Biden to fully endorse this pragmatic policy.

As discussions surrounding biofuels and environmental regulations continue, Smith's statement underscores the importance of a collaborative and forward-thinking approach to address the challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.
