Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) has revealed the winners of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for the Third District of Nebraska. Smith expressed his gratitude towards the participants and congratulated the winners while acknowledging the talent in the district. He also commended Nebraska’s art educators for their role in nurturing students' skills.
The first-place winner, Alyson Adams of Orleans Southern Valley Public Schools, created "Old Love" which will be showcased in the U.S. Capitol. Second place went to Brooklyn Santifer for "A-Cross the Pond," while Keeley Krohn's "Desert Flower" secured third place. Jori McNeil's "Animals of Nebraska" and Shyloh Gavierez's "Liminal Space" claimed the fourth and fifth places respectively.
Smith collaborated with the Nebraska Art Teachers Association to organize the competition. The runners-up will have their artwork displayed in various offices of Rep. Smith, including Washington, D.C., Grand Island, Scottsbluff, and Nebraska City. Notably, "A Stroll in the Woods" by Ida Gross and "Reno" by Topanga Boyles received honorable mentions.
