WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE) issued a statement today in response to the White House's announcement of policy proposals aimed at overhauling the Supreme Court of the United States.

"The Biden-Harris Administration is throwing this tantrum because they don’t want a Supreme Court which holds them accountable to our Constitution and the laws enacted by Congress," Smith said. "They want one which will rubber stamp their unlawful failed policies, such as their WOTUS rule and student loan scam, and allow them to jail their political opponents from the last administration."

Smith further commented on the feasibility and implications of these proposals: "Having little chance of becoming law, these moonshot proposals would increase politicization of the court and infringe upon the constitutional separation of powers within the federal government. Another instance of repeated overreach from this administration, this announcement is clearly nothing more than a political signal to far-left special interest groups."
