Congressman Adrian Smith has expressed his disapproval following President Joe Biden's decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden. The pardon announcement was made recently and has sparked discussions about its implications.

In a statement, Congressman Smith criticized the President's actions, saying, "Just as President Biden lied when he said he would not pardon his son Hunter, he isn’t telling the whole truth about the pardon he issued for him tonight." He further elaborated on the scope of the pardon: "While his statement was framed as addressing Hunter’s gun and tax charges, this blanket pardon covers all crimes Hunter may have committed from 2014 through 2023—a period covering his son's suspect business dealings in Ukraine, China, and other foreign nations—and removes them from further DOJ scrutiny."

Smith also pointed out that "Hunter's refusal to comply with investigations by the House Ways and Means, Oversight, and Judiciary Committees shows the Biden family is not serious about letting the American people make an informed judgment on the evidence pointing to extensive corruption." The congressman concluded by stating that "President Biden has gone back on his word and abused the power of the presidency. This is unacceptable."

The issue centers around Hunter Biden's past activities and ongoing investigations which have now been affected by this presidential pardon.
