Rep. Adrian Smith of Nebraska has expressed his condolences following the death of Jack Hoffman, a childhood cancer survivor and ESPY Award winner. In a statement, Rep. Smith highlighted Hoffman's impact on many lives through Team Jack and the inspiration he provided to millions.
"The tragic passing of Jack Hoffman shines a light on the countless lives he touched through Team Jack, the millions he inspired, and all he meant to Husker Nation," said Rep. Smith. "His legacy of courage will continue to serve as a beacon of hope in the fight against cancer and for all Nebraskans. My family is praying for the Hoffman family during this difficult time."
Jack Hoffman gained national attention at age seven with his symbolic touchdown run during the University of Nebraska's spring football game, which earned him an ESPY Award for Best Sports Moment in 2013. Following this achievement, Rep. Smith recognized Jack with remarks in the House of Representatives.
The Team Jack Foundation, established in honor of Hoffman's journey, has raised over $13 million dedicated to childhood brain cancer research.
