Smith criticized intellectual property infringement as a barrier to American creativity. "Intellectual property infringement discourages American ingenuity and threatens future advancement," he said. He praised the U.S. for its economic ventures fostered by "freedom, opportunity, and rule of law."
The report outlines significant priorities such as the protection of digital service providers, prevention of forced technology transfers, and holding China accountable to the Phase One Agreement. Smith appreciated the USTR Ambassador's efforts, stating, "I commend Ambassador Greer for his diligence and look forward to continuing to work with the Trump administration to ensure American IP interests are respected in the global marketplace."
