Rep. Adrian Smith, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Nebraska's 3rd district, has been actively engaging in legislative initiatives that focus on education and law enforcement. Born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Smith replaced former U.S. Congress member Tom Osborne in 2007 and has been a notable figure since his tenure began.

On May 14, 2025, Rep. Smith announced his participation in a press conference alongside Reps. Elise Stefanik, Burgess Owens, and Jim Jordan following the inclusion of his bill to support parental choice, the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA), in the Ways and Means GOP reconciliation package. He stated "This morning, I joined @RepStefanik, @RepBurgessOwens, and @Jim_Jordan for a press conference after my bill to support parental choice, the Educational Choice for Children Act, was included in the @WaysandMeansGOP reconciliation package."

Later that day on May 14th, Rep. Smith expressed his support for Rep. Don Bacon’s Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act during its passage through the House of Representatives. He noted "As a cosponsor of @RepDonBacon’s Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act, I supported its House passage to empower qualified LEOs by extending their concealed carry privileges." This statement came as part of National Police Week activities.

On May 15th, Rep. Smith reiterated his commitment to advancing educational reform through ECCA by collaborating with colleagues from both chambers of Congress. He remarked "Very encouraged ECCA was included in the package my colleagues and I reported out of @WaysandMeansGOP." His aim is to create legislation that significantly impacts students while safeguarding parental choice.

Smith's career began with service in the Nebraska Legislature from 1999 until he joined Congress in 2007 after graduating from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a BA degree.
