The Hastings College men's basketball team struggled on the offensive side of things in its 71-57 loss to Jamestown on Saturday afternoon inside Lynn Farrell Arena.

The Broncos got behind the Jimmies by 10 points just eight and a half minutes into the game but Reggie Thomas would get on the board with a driving layup and then Evan Kingston buried a three from the wing to make it 20-15 with 10:38 to go in the first half. Unfortunately, this would be as close as Hastings would get for the rest of the contest.

Hastings struggled from the floor hitting just nine of its 22 shots but what was really uncharacteristic was the 10 first half turnovers. Coming into the game, Hastings was averaging just 11 of them per game. This allowed the Jimmies to open up a 40-24 lead at the break and they never looked back.

Danilo Matovic held his own against one of the conference best players in Mason Walters. Walters led all scorers with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting while Matovic led the Broncos with 21 points on 10-of-18 shooting. Of course, his 21 points is a career high as he also pulled down seven boards. Thomas was the only other Bronco in double figures with 11 points.

The Broncos finished the game shooting 45.8 percent (22-for-48) from the field while Jamestown shot 46.4 percent (26-for-56). The biggest difference in the game was three points shooting as both teams shot better than 40 percent but Jamestown hit 12 threes while Hastings made just four. Rebounds were a dead heat at 31 apiece.
